PointSync® Server

Whether it’s 5, 50, 500 users or more, MobileDataforce® PointSync® Server is a powerful database oriented middleware solution for remote, synchronized applications. PointSync Server provides a robust set of technologies focused on communicating with and synchronizing data to a wide variety of mobile devices. Companies around the world such as Unilever, Alabama Power and RailcrewExpress have chosen PointSync Server as their mobility platform because of its rich feature set, ability to scale, synchronization performance, ease of administration and low cost.

Database

PointSync® Server includes a high performance database that provides reliability with rich enterprise grade functionality including full transaction processing, referential integrity, SQL and Java stored procedures, triggers, row-level locking, automatic event scheduling, backup/restore, data import/export and automatic recovery.

Performance

Communications and data synchronization to mobile devices must be performed rapidly to realize the full benefit of the technology. To achieve this, PointSync Server includes a self-tuning query optimizer and innovative query processing algorithms to deliver outstanding start-to-stop communications, even over a slow connection. A single PointSync Server can handle thousands of simultaneous synchronizations and servers can be runs simultaneously to provide limitless scalability.

Scalability

PointSync Server scales up as your business needs change by accommodating hundreds of mobile users and synchronization logistics that the smaller, forms-based tools may not manage without extra hardware/software expense or changes to your data model. From a hardware standpoint, PointSync Server operates efficiently on single and multiple CPU servers running on Microsoft Windows platform. See the System Requirements for further information.

True End-to-End Security

PointSync® Server includes 128-bit strong encryption options, resulting in true end-to-end security that meets the needs of customers in privacy-conscious industries such as government, healthcare and financial services. Communications encryption protects the confidentiality and integrity of packets as they pass between the client device and the database server.

Configuration & Data Design

PointSync Server is designed to be easy to install, configure and use. For example, a new Settings Wizard guides the installer through the process of configuring the server using easy-to-understand dialog boxes and explanations. Once the server is configured and running, PointSync Manager is used to administer all facets of the server(s), including designing the database (tables and fields), setting up indexes, linking to SQL Server tables, configuring synchronization logistics, configuring user groups, deployment and much more.

External Systems/Reporting

Since the PointSync Server database is ODBC compliant, it can be used to feed data into other systems for reporting and analysis. Reporting tools such as Microsoft Access and Crystal Reports can tie into the PointSync database using ODBC to show data as you need to see it. Also, using advanced features like stored procedures, events, and triggers, PointSync Server can automate tasks such as flat-file imports and exports to help integrate with almost any database on the market
