PointSync® Manager

PointSync Manager -- Click for a larger viewPointSync Manager makes configuring and monitoring your PointSync system simple. As a PointSync administrator, Manager is used to create database tables, link to existing SQL Server tables, determine synchronization rules, view synchronization logs, configure user groups, manage mobile licenses and deploy mobile applications created in PointSync® Developer.

Database Manager

The Pointsync® Database Manager provides the interface to the PointSync® database so you can create or modify tables, and link to Enterprise system tables in Microsoft SQL Server. You can also view and modify data directly within PointSync Database Manager, and set up indexes, relationships, etc.

Application Deployment

PointSync® mobile applications are created and maintained using PointSync® Developer. PointSync Manager is then used to deploy the applications and resource files (such as graphics) to the devices in the field. Devices can be organized into groups, allowing different applications and synchronization rules to apply to separate groups of mobile users.

Filtering Data

After selecting tables and columns to synchronize on the devices that receive your application, you will then have the ability to synchronize specific data “rows” to each device. You can use timestamp fields to ensure only the changed data goes to the device, and you can filter data based on which user or device is connected to the server. These filtering options provide almost infinite flexibility in which data is sent to the device during a connection.

ID Pooling

Creating new records in the field presents challenges in forcing unique record ID’s . To eliminate issues where mobile or office users create conflicting unique record ID’s, PointSync Manager includes a feature called ID Pooling. ID Pooling is a fully configurable built-in service that eliminates unique ID issues by managing and issuing pools of unique ID’s to mobile devices as they are needed. ID Pooling in itself can eliminate hours and days of work in resolving unique ID issues when creating new records in the field.

Server to Server SynchronizationServer to Server Synchronization

PointSync Manager now includes the ability to configure synchronization between two or more PointSync Servers using a parent/child type relationship. This feature allows servers from various physical locations to aggregate their data to a single PointSync Server database.

Other PointSync Manager Features:

  • Deploy multiple mobile applications and resource files
  • Sync topology options: two way, one way to server, one way to device
  • Remove rows from device after successful synchronization
  • Backup and Restore
  • Troubleshoot synchronization issues using the built-in server log
